Here are some of our most frequently asked questions. Don’t hesitate to call us anytime. We’re always here to answer any further questions you might have.
How often should I come in for a checkup?
In line with recommendations from the American Dental Association (ADA), our team strongly urges our patients to visit us at least twice every year for both an oral examination and teeth cleaning. These routine appointments are crucial to your oral health for several reasons.
Firstly, even if you do not report any symptoms, your dentist might detect developing problems that can then be treated early. For example, demineralization preludes tooth decay, that only your dentist can spot. Unfortunately, oral cancer is not diagnosed until far too late, and gum disease can cause extensive damage in a short time period.
Furthermore, teeth cleaning is also necessary every six months in order to get rid of all the built-up tartar, plaque, and food debris that has hardened on your enamel.
How do you ensure patient safety?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have put forth strict guidelines for us to adhere to as a dental care provider.
Some of these guidelines include the following:
- Using an autoclave to sterilize all reusable instruments, and sealing these instruments individually before using them again
- Disinfecting patient care areas between every patient visit
- Choosing disposable products whenever possible
- Wearing disposable gloves during examinations and procedures
What services do you offer for missing teeth replacement?
We offer several options for teeth replacement, including dental implants, mini implants, dental bridges, partials, and full dentures.
Through our Services page, you can learn all about these treatment options. At your consultation, your dentist will examine your mouth as well as take digital x-rays and intraoral photos and then assess your candidacy for each of these replacement options. We’ll make sure you are making the best decision for your smile.
Do you stay current on the latest techniques, innovations, and materials in the dental industry?
In order for our team to continue practicing, New York State has certain requirements for continuing education every year. However, we make sure to do much more than the bare minimum at NY Smile Creators. We subscribe to all of the relevant journals in the industry and hold memberships to professional dental associations geared toward furthering our education. We also do our best to attend as many conferences, lectures, and meetings held by such associations to absorb as much new information as we can.
It’s been years since I’ve been to the dentist. I’m embarrassed about letting a professional see my mouth. How will I be treated?
We’d like to congratulate you on being proactive about your oral health. It’s never too late to start taking better care of your teeth. When you visit our office, we’ll make sure you feel welcomed, comfortable, and safe. Your dental care team will examine your oral health and discuss treatment options and a plan of action suitable to your needs, schedule, insurance, and budget.
How can I make my smile better?
Everyone’s smile is unique, and we strive to preserve your individuality—even through enhancement treatments. At your complimentary consultation, we’ll be talking about your smile goals, preferences, and options for enhancements. Some of the cosmetic dentistry services we provide include:
- Porcelain veneers
- Teeth whitening
- All-white dental fillings
- All-white dental crowns
- Dental implants
After your consultation, we promise you’ll be excited to leave your smile makeover plan in our hands.
How safe is teeth whitening?
Teeth whitening treatments have been around for hundreds of years, and advancements in techniques and technology have provided us with bleaching gel that is 100 percent safe. The professional-grade bleaching gel that we use is highly effective at getting rid of discoloration and stains. We provide Zoom! WhiteningⓇ as an in-office treatment, and can also outfit you with a kit to take home.
What’s the difference between LumineersⓇ and veneers?
Traditional custom veneers involved quite a bit of tooth preparation and are highly customizable. Lumineers are a brand name of veneers that involves very little and sometimes no tooth preparation at all. The application is quick, and sensitivity risks are low.
I want to straighten my teeth, but I don’t like metal braces. What are my options?
We’ll be able to better evaluate your smile, the alignment of your teeth, and your bite better in ou office. However, we have two popular options—porcelain veneers and Invisalign clear aligners. You can learn more about these on our services page.
Will my insurance cover my treatment?
Dental insurance varies among policies and patients. Your individual coverage will surely differ from your neighbor’s. As a general rule, the amount you or your employer shells out for the premium will dictate how much coverage you receive. Most dental insurances cover restorative and preventative procedures at a certain percentage, while cosmetic dentistry services are an out-of-pocket expense.
We’re proud to offer CareCreditⓇ, which makes dental care affordable for all of our patients through a third-party lender.
Always ask about special offers and promotions for services like Zoom! Whitening and dental implants.
Can you provide dental care for my whole family?
Absolutely! At NY Smile Creators, we are passionate about creating stunning, healthy, brilliant smiles for patients of all ages. We are excited to be able to offer general, preventative, restorative, and cosmetic treatments for everyone in our community—even children and teenagers.
While we love treating the children in our community, we also understand that some kids do better with a pedodontist. If we see that your child would benefit in the care of a pediatric dentist, we’ll gladly refer you to one of our trusted and talented colleagues.
Do you have convenient office hours?
To accommodate your schedule, once a week, we stay open late—until 9:00 PM. We also offer Saturday appointments between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Get in touch with our office to schedule an appointment that is most convenient for you and your family.
